Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:Murray State University is seeking qualified applicants for a 9-month assistant professor (preferred) position or instructor in the School of Nursing and Health Professions.
Instructional responsibilities will support the undergraduate degree in exercise science. The successful candidate should possess strengths in the following areas including but not limited to: exercise testing, clinical exercise testing laboratory, exercise prescription, exercise counseling, facility management in the exercise professions, and senior seminars. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to innovative, high-quality classroom instruction, including active learning and the use of technology to promote excellence in learning. The Exercise Science program emphasizes critical thinking, written communication skills, and the application of theory and research for evidence-based practice. A commitment to academic advising, engaging in scholarly activity and research, and providing service to the program, department, college, university, and community is expected. The faculty member will advise undergraduate students and will assist the program with managing the clinical exercise physiology lab, curricular development, accreditation reporting, marketing, and recruitment. Minimum Education Requirements:A candidate with a Doctorate degree in Exercise Physiology or closely related discipline with a background in applied exercise physiology is preferred. A Masters degree in Exercise Physiology or a closely related discipline is required for the rank of Instructor.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:Strong oral and written communication skills. Commitment to, and potential for, innovative, high-quality active learning in the classroom, including experiential learning.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with prior faculty teaching experience and scholarship. Demonstrated interprofessional education and collaboration. An American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification as an exercise physiologist or clinical exercise physiologist, or other related national certification. Expertise in working with diverse clinical populations. Potential for, or history of, active service participation and/or leadership roles in university, community, and/or professional organizations.
Note: If the successful candidate is masters prepared, the position will be filled as a non-tenure track, instructor. If the successful candidate holds a terminal degree, the position will be filled as a tenure-track, assistant professor.
