Salary: $22-$27

The Eye Center is looking for a Billing Specialist to join our team. We are looking for an individual with at least 2 years' experience, preferably in ophthalmology. This is an on-site position in Eugene, OR.

Essential skills:

• Respectful treatment of patients and co-workers
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral, including good telephone etiquette
• Detail oriented with strong organization skills with attention to follow through
• Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to work as a team player
• Exhibit proficiency in basic accounting fundamentals, medical software, and Microsoft office.
• Able to read, write and fluently speak the English language

Knowledge and Abilities:

• ICD-10 and CPT codes
• Accept incoming calls from patients, clinic staff and insurance carriers to answer questions
• Verifying correct insurance information and follow up for claim status and payments.
• Knowledge of or train on coding as back up
• Train/back up on the following:
  • Transmitting claims
  • Posting payments
  • Managing pending claims; past due accounts and collections
  • Verifying insurance coverage for all surgical and office procedures
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
