OverviewLMI seeks a skilled Systems Engineering Lead to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the National Capital Region. ResponsibilitiesThis individual will work with other systems engineers to support the client's program management office (PMO), which is responsible for developing programs of records (POR) and the acquisition, deployment, and sustainment of technologies, systems, and services to protect the nation's borders. From program planning and market research to trade studies, requirements definition, engineering analysis, decision support, and program execution assistance, this individual will apply sound systems engineering principles and ensure that DHS and CBP directives, policies, and processes are followed to meet the client's objectives.You will lead a team of professionals in all facets of systems engineering management and effectively navigate the acquisition lifecycle framework and the systems engineering lifecycle processes. Your leadership will help individuals who are tasked with enhancing mission readiness and modernization. Your expert analysis and recommendations will help implement Component strategy through comprehensive capability management. Representative responsibilities: Providing full lifecycle systems engineering support to programs and projects, ushering programs through their acquisition lifecycle from Program of Record (PoR) establishment to program awards, deployment, operation, and sustainmentLeading or supporting the development of engineering and project plans including but not limited to the following:Providing technical support including assessments and briefings in support of SELC technical gate reviewsParticipating in IPTs and Systems Engineering work groupsPerforming trade studies and other technical investigations as requiredParticipating in program-level review boards, including engineering, configuration, risk, and test review boardsSupporting or leading the planning, execution, data collection, evaluation, and assessment of system acceptance tests, technical demonstrations, and other technology and/or systems evaluation effortsAssessing contractor deliverables against requirementsMaintaining comprehensive awareness of the programs and contract's progress with respect to cost, schedule, and performance as an enabler to informed decision makingFunctional and data requirements analysis documentation preparationProviding Executive Management Decision Makers with timely, complete and accurate information to make informed decisions. QualificationsMinimum of 8 years of relevant experience and a BS degree in systems engineering, or a related discipline. An active CBP Background Investigation is required.Expert understanding of the DHS acquisition life cycle frameworkExperience with the full Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) and its processes and practicesSelf-motivated, proactive, independent performer who can perform well in a collaborative, team environmentDemonstrated ability to work within a highly functioning systems engineering team and develop/execute complex tasksExperience in providing engineering support to large, complex programsExperience leading cross-functional teamsExperience in developing engineering and project plansOutstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skillsUnderstanding the following topics:Enterprise ArchitectureSensor and Surveillance SupportModeling and Simulations SupportTest and Evaluation SupportInformation Systems Security SupportPossess the ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment Possess strong organizational skills to enable working with project teams, service providers and various stakeholders Ability to think strategically Possess strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to collaborate well with others and build strong relationships Desired> 8 years of relevant experiencePMP, DAWIA or DHS certification Masters degree in systems engineering, logistics or a related disciplineDisclaimer: The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances. THe salary Range for this position is $165,000-$210,000.
