We're seeking an experienced Systems Security Engineer with an active security clearance. This role requires a self-sufficient professional with proven platform engineering experience who can integrate and deploy software applications in a secure environment.

Responsibilities :

Design, develop and implement security controls aligned with NIST SP 800-53 standards for on-premise, hybrid and cloud infrastructure.

Assess security risks and ensure compliance across servers, storage, networking, and application platforms .

Collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams to integrate security into system design and lifecycle management.

Conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and continuous monitoring of datacenter systems and applications .

Provide security recommendations for hardware, virtualization, and access control solutions.

Requirements

  • Current active DoD security clearance
  • 5+ years of experience in on-premise system security engineering or cybersecurity.
  • Strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, and datacenter security best practices .
  • Experience securing enterprise-grade servers, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and storage systems .
  • Proficiency in risk assessment, access control, and incident response for on-prem environments.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site at company or customer location
  • Detail oriented
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, Security+) are a plus.
  • Experience with artifact management and version control systems
  • Experience with application security, Kubernetes
  • Experience with Redhat products including Redhat Enterprise Linux
  • COMSEC experience and/or past experience as a COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO)
  • Experience with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)

The pay range for this position is $118,000 - $155,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills. This is not a guarantee of compensation.
