\nGeneral Information:\nLevel II NICU; No Nursery\nAverage # of deliveries per year? 1200\nBeds:\nOBED: seen in L&D\nAntepartum: mixed between L&D and M/B\nLabor & Delivery: 10 in total\n8 labor rooms\n1 triage/recovery room\nOR: 1 – any overflow would go to Main OR\nPostpartum/GYN: 18; 15 functional currently; will take Antepartum and GYN patients as well\nMinimum years of experience? at least 5 years in Labor & Delivery\nWill you accept a first-time traveler? Dependent on background – prefers travel experience but will review\nBreast feeding friendly facility\nRooming in Model for Mother-Baby\nLabor & Delivery and Mother-Baby are physically separate units right next to one another\nTravelers must be able to work all areas to include L&D, Antepartum, Postpartum, GYN and provide couplet care\nPatient Types/Common Diagnoses:\nPIH, GDM, Pre-Eclampsia, Eclampsia, HELLP, Shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, multiples, fetal loss, drug addiction, GYN patients – general cases\nNewborn: NAS scoring, bilirubin babies, 24 hr. labs\nPatient Ratios:\nLaboring: 1:1-3 \nActive Labor: 1:1\nCouplet/Postpartum/GYN/Antepartum: 1:6 (goal); 1:7 (max)\nMinimum staffing –\nL&D: 4 RNs Day and Night\nM/B: 2-3 RNs (typically 2 RNs & 1 ICA)\nRequired Certifications:\nRN: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced FHM, CPI or MOAB\nCST: BLS, CST – nationally certified\nSkills required:\nRN: management of insulin drips, magnesium drips, Shoulder dystocia, circulating c-section, neonatal resuscitation, vaginal checks for labor progression; use of IUPC/ICP; Newborn care to include: NAS scoring, bilirubin babies, 24 hr. labs, ability to provide lactation support\n \n\nOB Tech: setup for vaginal deliveries, assisting with vaginal deliveries and repairs; OR setup and scrubbing duties during c-sections; management of delivery log, handling of sterile equipment, secretarial duties as needed\nSupport on the Unit:\nICA – Nursing Assistant and Secretary dual role\nL&D – dayshift only\nMother-Baby – 24/7 coverage\nCST – 2 in house or 1 in house and 1 on call\nCharge nurse: 24/7 coverage for both L&D and M/B\nPhlebotomist – will draw any subsequent labs needed after initial labs are drawn with IV placement\nAnesthesia – available 24/7 – may have to physically come in if they are not on site\nHouse Supervisor, 24/7\nRT, 24/7\nOB, 24/7\nMidwife, 24/7 – 97% of vaginal deliveries\nTelemetry monitoring – Central monitoring on L&D, M/B, break rooms, remote monitoring abilities for ICU/ED or Bed Towers\nTechnology/Equipment:\nEMR: EPIC (preferred experience)\nIV pumps: Alaris\nMedication dispensing: Omnicell\nFetal Monitoring: OBIX\nFloating: If yes, where?\nWill float between L&D and Mother Baby\nOrientation:\nTypically onboarded on Monday morning and will continue orientation for 3 days\nScheduling:\nWeekend rotation: Floating rotation – dependent on unit needed\nmax of every other weekend\nNo call required\nHoliday Expectations: every other\nRTO Approval:\nManager approval\nShift times:\n0700-1900\n1900-0700\nSchedule cycle:\n8-week schedule\nOther notes?\nScrub Color: Pink pants/top; Ceil blue pants/top; Turquoise blue pants/top; Hospital provided scrubs if going into OR\nFree Parking on site\n\n
