Job Description

The primary role of the assistant manager at Chaar is to maintain high levels of sales and customer engagement, both individually, and part of the store team. Additionally, the assistant manager may be involved in all other aspects of running the store and helping customers and staff as needed for successful operation.
Our ideal Assistant Manager is outgoing, ambitious in nature, detail oriented, and passionate about creating the best shopping experience for every customer. They are organized and adept at time management skills. Prior retail experience with sales and customer engagement is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Lead our store team in high levels of customer engagement
  • Ensure customers' needs are uncovered and met wherever possible
  • Lead the sales team in accordance with company goals
  • Create and foster a culture that ensures the customer is the focus of all activities
  • Achieve store sales targets
  • Assist in all areas related to the successful operation of the store
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Outgoing, "Customer First" mentality
  • GED/High School Diploma required
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years' retail work experience. Experience with footwear and/or pet supply sales is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to prioritize competing tasks
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Available to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, which will include closing and weekend shifts.
Physical Requirements:
  • Stand and/or walk for 8 hours unassisted
  • Strength & stamina to lift and carry 40 pounds over a 200 foot distance
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing over 50 pounds using proper equipment
  • Lift 25lbs over-head
  • Utilize left and right hands simultaneously as well as independently for carrying and lifting activities
  • Finger dexterity for entering data on computers and other handheld devices
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, climb, twist, and reach
  • Climb and descend flight of stairs without using handrails or pausing to rest
  • Sustain vocal conversations for up to two hours at conversational levels of volume
  • Vision to read documents, product labels, and computer screens
